Using Expedited Site Assessment:The CD in Windows XP
Before trying the fixes try this first --
Insert the CD, wait for the install/play menu, click install.
After you install it, attempt to run it from the desk top icon (the CD must be in a CDROM to run).
If it runs, your done. If there are color or sound issues or a virtual memory error, then follow the directions below.
The fix --

You will be making two changes (1) Change the software compatiblity to Windows 98 and (2) Lower the virtual memory.

How to change the windows compatibility
right click on esacd icon
1. Right click on the Expedited Site Assesment desktop icon.
2. Click on Properties.

3. Click on the Compatibility tab.

4. In the Compatibility mode box, check Run this program ...

5. Click on the menu arrow and choose Windows 98/Windows Me option

6. Click Apply then OK.
Try running the program. If there are no sound or color issues or no virtual memory error, you are all set. If you still have problems, continue on ...
How to lower the virtual memory
click start control panel
2. Click on switch to Classic View

1. Click on the Start button then Control Panel.

4. Click on the Advanced tab.
3. Double Click on System.
5. In the Performance box click on Settings.
6. Click on the Advanced tab.
7. Record the Total paging file size for all drives in the Virtual memory box [note: typically it is set as 1.5 x Ram]. Then click Change.

8. Highlight the C: drive.

Click on the Custon size button.

Change the Initial size (MB) to 500.

Click on the set button.

Click OK.

9. You will be asked to restart the computer. Click OK.

10. Click Apply then OK.

Note: the total paging file size will not change until the system is rebooted.

11. Click OK.
12. Click yes and reboot. Be sure the CD is removed before your reboot.

After the computer reboots, insert the CD. The menu to play/install should appear. Click on play. You could also click on the desktop icon to start the program. After a CD session you may change back your virtual memory. Increasing the virtual memory does not require rebooting.
